is 485 km by road from Delhi and 52 km from Chamba.
The closest
railhead is Pathankot 80 km away. The airport
at Gaggal in Kangra is at a distance of 135 km
. Taxis and buses are easily available from these
places.
The
picturesque town is interspersed with the colonial-era
buildings, low roofed stalls and hotels. The pine-covered
slopes around it are intersected with paths and
treks, which are ideal for short undemanding walks.
Dalhausie

of both plains and the whitecapped views of the
mountainous ranges.
In
winter, the temperature can drop to freezing point
when heavy woollens are required. the summer temperature
are mild and light woollens/cottons are recommended.

Subhash Baoli  
Commanding a view of the snowcapped mountains,
1.6-km away from the G.P.O. (check spelling) Square,
the spring of Subhash Baoli is situated .
Kalatope (10 km) 
10 Km from Dalhousie, Kalatope is a pleasant gateway,
with a panoramic view, an enchanting palace, and
a forest rest house. Kalatope is situated 10-km
away from G.P.O. Square at an altitude of 8,000-ft.
Walking along the secluded and forested road through
upper Nakorota hills, one reaches Lakkarmandi.The
home of dhogri families, Lakkarmandi is nestled
between 8,600 feet high Dayan Kund peak on its
right and Kalatope on the left. The little Kalatope
Sanctuary has a variety of wildlife such as deer,bears
and leopards. There is also a Forest Resthouse,
for those who wish to spend the night in the sanctuary.
Bara Pathar (4 km) 
The prime appeal of this spot is a fascinating
little temple set in the midst of a dense forest.
Panchpula (3 km) 
An idyllic area where a charming stream feeds
several pools, Panchpula (Five Bridges) is the
site, where a monument dedicated to the great
freedom fighter, Bhagat Singh's uncle, Sardar
Ajit Singh, has been built.
Kunal Pathri 
These are the rock temples from which the place
derives its name. Kunal pathri is a 3 kms flat
walk from Kotwali Bazaar.

Subhash Baoli 
Not far from the G.P.O. Square is the spring at
Subhash Baoli with panoramic views of the snow-capped
mountains. (1.6 km)
Satdhara 
Sparkling springs close to town, rich
in mica and other minerals, are noted for their
medicinal properties.
Panjpulla 
Beyond Sathara is another pretty spot
where the water from a natural tank flows under
five little bridges. (2 km)
Bakrota Hills 
The Bakrota Mall, a popular walking circuit around
these hills has a spectacular view of the mountains.
Kalatope 
An ideal weekend retreat with forest rest houses
and beautiful spots for picnics, in a little wildlife
sanctuary. (8.5 km)
Bara Pather 
Enroute to Kalatope is the temple of Bhulwani
Matha, in the village of Ahla. (4 km)
Dhainkund 
The high peak of Dhainkund offers a bird's-eye
view of the verdant valleys of the Beas, Chenab
and Ravi rivers. (10 km)
Khajjiar 
While it is possible to go by road, Khajjiar is
just a pleasant one day walk from Dalhousie. An
emerald, saucer shaped meadow at Khajjiar, surrounded
by dense deodar forests, has a lake at its centre
with a floating island, a forest rest house, a
little temple with a golden spire and a golf course.
