General Information / History
Lying 200 km north east of Jabalpur in the Vaidleya
mountain range. This National Park has a beautiful
setting. Animals like Nilgeri, Wild Boar, Jacks,
Gaurs, Sambars, Porcupines and many species of
birds including vulture, the blue rock thrush
and crag martin. The density of the Tiger population
at Bandhavgarh is the highest known in India.
The best season to visit: February to June, although
the cold season is much more comfortable and still
very good for wildlife. (The park is closed from
July 1 to October 31 because of the monsoon).
Sightseeing
Bandhavgarh National Park 
The national park holds some 250 odd species of
birds along the streams and marshes. Reptilian
fauna include cobra, krait, viper, rat snake,
python, turtle and a large number of lizard varieties,
including varanus.
Bandhavagarh
Fort  
Built by the Maharajas of Rewa, Bandhavgarh Fort
is located well within the Bandhavgarh National
Park. The fort is situated at an altitude of 800
m and gives panoramic view of the wildlife preserve
as well as surrounding countryside. There is a
small stream call Charganga that flows besides
the fort. In the way to the fort you can also
see a number of statues and temples, the most
famous of all is a rock-cut statue of Lord Vishnu.
